Veteran comedienne Elizabeth Ramsey Dies in her Sleep

Comedienne, singer and actress Elizabeth Ramsey passed away on Thursday. She was 83. Her daughter Jaya, confirmed the sad news in a social media post that her mom peacefully died in her sleep.

"Mama Beth is now with our Lord... 83 years has been full. Love and laughter, she has given not just our family but the whole nation. Thank you for your love and prayers and I rejoice because she passes in her sleep. In peace. In God's loving arms. Bye mama, until we meet again. I love you forever. Thank you Jesus.",Jaya posted in her Facebook account earlier.

Last August, Jaya said her mother was rushed to the hospital after suffering a hyperglycemia attack due to diabetes. In an interview on 24 Oras, Jaya said she almost lost hope when she saw her mom's condition and at the same time, she was also preparing for what could happen, told Rappler post.

Elizabeth Ramsey was known for her trademark Visayan-accented dialogues, which she performed in English or Tagalog, she was regarded as the country's "Queen of Rock and Roll"and "Original Queen of Comedy". She rose to fame in 1958 after winning a singing contest in Student Canteen, the first noontime show on Philippine television.

As a down to earth person she was loved and admired by many Filipinos.
